CERTIFICATION & SERVICES: ENVIRONMENT Environmental Management Systems: ISO 14001 Transition news for AFAQ-EAQA Certified Environmental Management Systems The new version of the Standard, ISO 14001:2004, was issued on 15 November 2004. AFAQ-EAQA is adopting the principles of transition to the new standard as shown in the following timetable: Up to and including 15 May 2005 our clients may choose whether to be audited to either the old standard ISO 14001:1996 or the new standard ISO 14001:2004 After 15 May 2005 all AFAQ-EAQA Certification Audits will be to ISO 14001:2004. The deadline to upgrade existing systems currently certified to ISO 14001:1996 to ISO 14001:2004 is 14 May 2006. Upgrades will be performed during normally scheduled follow-up, surveillance or renewal audits and, all other things being equal, without the addition of any extra time. The changes are principally to align the new environmental management system standard with the quality management system standard ISO 9001:2000. More information will be posted on the site shortly.
